Rado, most famous for their high tech ceramics and hardness of case manufacturing, were formed in 1957 following the successful growth of the Schlup & Co. clockwork factory which was started by three brothers in 1917. Werner, Ernst and Fritz Schlup built the business over a 40 year period until they became Rado Uhren AG in 1957 starting the remarkable history of Rado watches.

Rado produced their first “Scratch Proof” watch in 1962 and has continued developing robust and strong watches and are reputed to have created the hardest watch in the world which has a hardness rating of 10000 vickers.

Today, Rado are still going strong. They sell their watches through a network of over 5000 retailers worldwide and have over 400 service centres.
